2020 Co. Dublin Honey Show – Update
It’s that time of year again when beekeepers prepare entries for the Dublin Honey Show. It’s the highlight of the beekeeping year, and we, Dublin beekeepers, welcome visitors from everywhere to participate in our show.
This year will be a little different to recent years for two reasons:
- Our old venue in Rathgar is being re-configured and reduced in size, so no longer suitable for our show. We have found a superb new venue in nearby Dundrum – Taney Parish Hall. This venue is bigger, with great facilities including catering, parking, and access – it is a two minute walk from the Luas stop in Dundrum. We are really excited to have such a great venue for future Honey Shows, and the capacity to grow and develop the annual event.
- Whilst excited with our new venue, the ongoing challenge of COVID 19 requires us to factor in to our planning the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the preparation and implementation of our show, and the visitors who attend. We are, at this point (July 2020) planning to hold the event, with the relevant safety protocols that will be necessary, but we must also realise that it may be necessary to postpone the event if Government advice changes or there is any reversal of the progress we in Ireland have made to date.
At the 2020 Honey Show there will be:
- Over 30 Competition Classes on display.
- Display will include Honeys, Beeswax products, Meads, Cakes, Biscuits, Photographs and Other Crafts.
- Craft Fair
- Local Honey for sale
- Coffee Shop
If you are keen on buying honey, do come early because we always sell out.
Finally, if you are a member of the Co. Dublin beekeepers’ association and can spare a few hours to help out on the day, we’d love to have you. If you can help out, click here to email John.
